Should have just ended with the consummate Muse sounding “Euphoria” that adds a little jocundity to a lyrically solemn album. This is something I would expect from Green Day not these accomplished and, for the most part, sagacious musicians. One of those you skip, but it’s not worse than the final – totally unnecessary – song. If you told me “Liberation” was a Queen cover I’d believe it. A fun song though the ending pretty much rips off “Thriller.” “You Make Me Feel Like It’s Halloween” (I think) shows off the band’s merriment. The wistful piano refrain in “Ghosts (How Can I Move On)” mesmerizes and works with or without the vocals in this heartfelt ballad. “Won’t Stand Down” builds into a drubbing and the killer guitars all over “Kill or Be Killed” create another signature work of Muse.Ī dystopian “Compliance” and the dreamy “Verona” successfully rely on a heavier use of keyboards, the former (along with several other songs) a likely critique on the last couple of years and the latter a throwback to the 1980s. Muse weaves the hard rockers throughout Will of the People starting with a drum pounding cadence to open the title track, a song you might initially recognize in Marilyn Manson’s “The Beautiful People” before it separates rather quickly into a far better tune. Singer Matt Bellamy retains signature soaring vocals while leading on guitar (and being the only singer I’ve heard who successfully blends taking a breath into a song’s harmony), Chris Wolstenholme more than fills the gaps on bass and drummer Dominic Howard tirelessly keeps the band together. Some tracks burst with sonic energy thanks to a rash of pulsing drum fills and speed guitar as others hit the brakes forcing a bit of woolgathering (yea, that’s for the British audience). At times heavy metal, other times glam rock, sometimes pop rock, but Will of the People generally stays on point with a style of hard rock Muse developed into their own years ago. Muse incorporates several genres of music into this 10-song effort, the band’s shortest album coming in under 38 minutes. Will of the People pendulum-swings from some of their hardest and most rigorous songs to softer melodies that straddle the emotional ballad fence. 26), the band’s first since 2018’s Simulation Theory ending their longest break between albums. Though not a perfect record, Muse upends this routine with the English’ trio’s ninth studio album Will of the People, out today (Aug. Every Muse album, seemingly, has several outstanding tracks and a couple of pretty good to good tracks rounded out with a few that require some listening investment or, more plainly, you just skip. 1/18/2024 0 Comments Should i buy luminar stockInvesting in the fast-growing electric vehicle market looks tricky at the moment. Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) – the most valuable carmaker and the undisputed leader in the self-driving space at the moment – doesn’t use lidar technology, instead opting for lower-cost hardware such as cameras and radar systems, which it says perform better compared to lidar. That said, there could be some technology risks. The company has also forged significant partnerships, including deals with seven of the top 10 automakers, and has an order book of about $1.3 billion. Secondly, Luminar’s products combine its custom components and related software into a complete package, which should help the company differentiate itself versus off-the-shelf lidar components which are more commoditized. Luminar pegs its total addressable market at about $5 billion presently and estimates that it could grow to about $150 billion by 2030. So what’s the narrative driving the company’s lofty valuation? Firstly, investor interest in the self-driving market is high, and Luminar is one of the few pure-play stocks in the space. Luminar had a market cap of close to $8 billion in Thursday’s trading, despite posting Revenues of just about $13 million last year. I decide to do my morning notes on my iPad this morning instead of in my current Moleskine notebook. I finally ask David what application he is using on the iPad. I am giddy being able to almost experience whiteboarding with David again. It is far more natural to write with an Apple Pencil on an iPad. While Zoom has the annotation capabilities, it is hard for me to write using a mouse. Meaning and understanding at the speed of writing. Instead of a complicated slide being blasted into my feeble brain, the beauty of handwritten notes allows me time to absorb and process the meaning. Could it be as simple as the pixellated bits on the screen or was it being able to observe and think at the speed of writing. For me, it transformed the experience into being back at the white board. Yet, something magical happened when David started writing notes on this iPad. The good news about Zoom is that we can continue our collaboration remotely AND capture a searchable transcript through Otter.ai. Instead of a white board we are usually restricted to sharing a web page or a powerpoint presentation and talk around the shared screens. Now, Zoom is our medium of communication. Yet, since March and the Pandemic quarantine, we’ve been severely limited in our ability to collaborate around a white board. We’d both bring several colored markers to separate our notes while we visualized our thoughts.Īt the end of a session we would take photos of our notes and use those images as fodder for our next round of collaborative writing. After that (if your eyeballs have survived), it drops down to 25,000 lumens, and runs for an additional 46 minutes before the battery needs re-charging. There’s just one caveat to that: the manufacturer states that on “turbo” setting, it can generate 100,000 lumens, but only for up to one minute. Yes, you read that right: this flashlight is capable of generating an eye-searing, blindness-inducing 100,000 lumens! That’s enough to light up even the darkest night-absolutely insane brightness. They’re far more versatile and make it easier to see what you’re doing/where you’re going, but also spotlight distant objects should that prove necessary. You can find flashlights that emit either focused or narrow beams, flashlights that emit combined beams, or (and these are really cool) adjustable flashlights that let you switch between the two types. The cool thing about these beams is that they aren’t generated by the light source (the bulb), but by the reflector and lens built into the head of the flashlight. It’s excellent at illuminating a small, distant object, and may typically be combined with a focused beam to maximize spotlighting capability. With a convergent beam, the light moves toward a single point, but it’s far more specific and focused than a focused-beam light.
